Half-title, engraved title (after Vernet), 5 engraved folding maps of the battle, one engraved folding panoramic battlefield view, one folding table (one folding map torn and repaired). Contemporary red morocco gilt with CENTRAL GILT ARMORIAL STAMP OF NAPOLEON BONAPARTE AS FIRST CONSUL ON SIDES (see Olivier, pl.2652, fer. no.11), surrounded by an all over design of Napoleonic bees, within a gilt rool toll border, corners gilt stamped with Napoleonic eagle. Provenance: Berthier, given to Napoleon, who took the book to St. Helena (according to a note on the front free endpaper by Harmsworth); given by Napoleon to B.E.O. Meara (pencil note on front free endpaper); H.C. Elwers (sale Sotheby's London, May 7 1934, pencil note on front free endpaper); Harmsworth (pencil note on preliminary blank); sale Phillips, London (22 May 1979, lot 1).
