MINIATURE BOOKS -- HORATIUS FLACCUS, Quintus (65-8 B.C.). Opera omnia, Paris: A. Mesnier, 1828. 32° (75 x 43mm). (Occasional very light spotting.) Contemporary red morocco, gilt foliate designs in corners and on spine, gilt turn-ins, marbled pastedowns and endpapers, gilt edges, binder's stamp (C. Hardy) on verso of front free endpaper. Provenance: Alfred de Curzon (armorial booklabel). FINE BINDING. An example of the microscopic 2.5 point type cut by Henry Didot and cast by the polyamatype process. 'In spite of its exceedingly small size Didot's type is of great beauty and amazing clarity' (Bondy, Miniature Books, p.91). Spielman 201; Welsh 3568.

Contemporary red straight-grained morocco, gilt double filet on boards, single filet on spine compartments, gilt turn-ins, gilt edges. Provenance: Eugenius Caffarelli (armorial bookplate) -- A[lfred] de C[urzon] (owner's inscription in pencil on endleaf). Welsh 5018.
