The relief panel depicts the high-ranking official Merenptah standing, facing right, with right hand raised, wearing an elaborate headdress with sun disc, plumes, ram's horns and uraeii, flanked by columns of hieroglyphs, painted, with wall attachments

Lot Essay

The plaster cast was made from historic moulds taken from the original relief, by the Gipsformerei Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, in the tomb at Biban el Moluk.
