The nickel plated movement inscribed patented September 1864, stem winder with bimetallic balance, blued steel hair spring, lever escapement and jewelled to the third, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, blued steel and gold moon hands, the hands set by pressing a button in the band, in engine turned case with decorative rims, the front cover centred by an escutcheon and the back by a star design with hinged cuvette
