The frosted gilt chain fusee movement with engraved cock, ruby endstone, flat steel three-armed balance, bimetallic sugar tongs regulation, Earnshaw's chronometer detent escapement, white enamel dial with Roman numerals, large subsidiary seconds, gold spade hands, in (later) silver inner and outer cases

Thomas Earnshaw was an eminent watchmaker and known particularly for his work on chronometer escapements, in particular his rivalry with John Arnold, who he claimed, plagiarised his design for the chronometer escapement.
