An interesting French tin-cased portable alarm timepiece
Aubineau, Strasbourg. Mid 19th Century
The case painted with Strasbourg cathedral on a yellow ground and signed below AUBINEAU Horologer BREVETE Strasbourg., the sides of the case painted with laurel leaves and acorns, the underside with brass index arm for balance regulation, the lid opening to reveal a key compartment and brass topped plate stamped AUBINEAU STRASBOURG No. 74, the white enamel Arabic watch dial with blued steel hands, the alarm striking on a bell audible through a star-and-rondel pierced top plate
