Late 18th Century
The mottled brass dial plate with black lacquered chapter ring with red painted Japanese chapters with the signs of the Zodiac, the revolving central disc with pierced steel pointer and facetted steel peg for the alarm, the movement with iron top and base plates, rectangular section iron pillars, the going train with verge escapement with single foliot above the plates, the strike train with countwheel planted on the backplate and hour strike and alarm on a large bell above the plates with iron butterfly securing nut, wrap-around brass doors and backplate
