The oval brass case with close fitting lid with integral compartment for the winding key, glazed apertures to the front of the case for the dial and balance wheel, the watch with rectangular brass plates, dial with movable steel Japanese chapters and single brass hand, the movement with gut fusee and spring barrel, verge escapement with unusual crenellated three-arm balance wheel with bridgecock, the backplate engraved with flowers within a stylised border, the brass netsuke decorated with a fighting dragon on the lid and opening to reveal a silvered sundial (lacking a stylus and compass), brass ojime
