The hinged lid inlaid with a double cornucopia issuing from a flowerhead, above a crest of a statant lion bearing a fleur-de-lys and with motto 'FLOREAT MAJESTAS', the ends with ribbon-tied laurel wreaths, the reverse with putti playing an Aeolian lyre, the interior lined in crimson velvet, the marquetry possibly original
