Lot Essay

A related eighteenth century dressing-mirror incorporating a Chinese mirror painting glass is illustrated in D. Howard, A Tale of Three Cities: Canton, Shanghai & Hong Kong, London, 1997, no. 192. Another dressing-mirror of the present pattern is recorded in a Scottish private collection.
