With four tiers, each with leather book-spines, on a circular base enclosing two frieze drawers, on a baluster shaft with tripod base and brass caps and castors, repaired break to one leg, the handles largely replaced

Lot Essay

A pattern for a graduated five-tiered 'circular movable bookcase' standing on a table base, featured in R. Ackermann's Repository of Arts in March, 1810, and corresponds to a bookcase sold at Phillips, Son & Neale, 15 May 1967, lot 1964.
A closely related four-tier library table is illustrated in M. Jourdain, Regency Furniture 1795-1830, rev. ed., London, 1965, p. 83, fig. 197.
