Following this she decided to apply herself to the study of Art History. Her uncle, the painter Rudolf Bonnet, was to be the subject of her final thesis. Fascinated by his life and many travels, she embarked upon a biography of this globe-trotter and artist. The book entitled 'Rudolf Bonnet, een zondagskind' (Sunday child) was published in 1991. The extensive archives to which Mrs de Roever-Bonnet had access disclosed to her the many facets of Bonnet’s life. The correspondence which has been preserved and other personal material provided her with insight in his special relationship with Bali and Indonesia. Mrs de Roever-Bonnet administered his archives until her death in January 2004. Her fascination for the work of Bonnet was undoubtedly rooted in her fond childhood memories of, and many later acquaintances with, her uncle whom she visited all over the world throughout her life.
