He received his fine art training at the institute of education in Madiun, East Java. He has been the selector of fine art for the Art Centre in Denpasar since its opening in 1973, where he has also participated in joint exhibitions. From 1979 to 1987 he was commissioner of the Bali Arts Festival held annually at the Art Centre. His paintings incorporate elements of cubism with superimposed figures.
