Circa 1840, the crenellated cornice and plain frieze above two Gothic shaped glazed doors with central horizontal glazing bar, enclosing adjustable shelves, the base with conforming panelled doors on a plinth base, 249 cm. (98 in.) high, 128 cm. (50½ in.) wide, 46 cm. (18 in.) deep

This cedar bookcase distinguished by its crenellated cornice and Gothic arched doors is similar to an example illustrated in Kevin Fahy and Andrew Simpson's 1998 Australian Furniture Pictorial History and Dictionary 1788-1938, Fig 30, p 168
