Lot Essay

"The text of these two lectures is, as usual, in Bell's typical lucid style, and the nine plates, drawn by the author, are remarkably effective. The first lecture is given over to a criticism of some views by another famous surgeon of Bell's time, Sir Astley Cooper. The second lecture is in support of his brother, John Bell, recently deceased, certain of whose findings had been claimed by Sir Astley Cooper as his own" [Heirs of Hippocrates]
