Lot Essay

A good, unstamped copy of this EXTREMELY RARE work. D'Agoty was the first person to print anatomical prints in colour on a large scale and this work includes some of his most elaborate prints. The startling detail of the intricate network of blood vessels indicates the superiority of this method of printing.
D'Agoty was a pupil of Le Blond and improved on his technique by using a fourth, black, plate.
