Lot Essay

The original woodblocks of the Fabrica were discovered in the University of Munich in 1893 but were destroyed during the bombing of Munich in 1943. The woodblock title was destroyed 3 years earlier with the bombing of the University of Louvain (see illustrations on catalogue cover).
