BOHN, John (1757-1843) -- In Chancery. Bohn v. Bohn. Catalogue of a Portion of the Extensive & Valuable Stock of Books of the Late Mr. John Bohn... which will be sold without Reserve by Auction, by Order of the Court of Chancery. London: Foster & Son, and Messrs. Evans, 16 July 1846.
8o (222 x 142 mm). Original printed wrappers.
Posthumous sale catalogue of the German immigrant bookbinder who came to England in 1790, but ceased binding in 1815 in favor of antiquarian bookselling; he died at Henrietta Street, Covent Garden. Most likely it is Bohn's son James (1803-1880), also a bookseller, who is one of the litigants identified on the title-page as "Bohn v. Bohn." See Nixon, Five Centuries of English Bookbinding, p.186.
