ANISSON, Jean & Jacques & Jean POYSUEL. Bibliographia Anissoniana, sue index librorum, qui venales reperiuntur in officina Fratrum Anisson, & Joan. Poysuel, bibliopolarum Lugdunensium, ad annum 1676. Lyons, 1676.
12o (144 x 88 mm). (Some pale dampstaining.) Contemporary boards (rear joint split). Provenance: Abraham Girard, S.J.
The first, or earliest surviving, catalogue Jean and Jacques Anisson published after their father's death; they had taken into partnership the bookseller Poysuel (or Posuel). Jean became director of the Imprimerie Royal in 1691, but in 1707 ceded this position to his nephew Charles Rigaud and returned to Lyon where he died in 1721; Jacques remained in Lyon, dying in 1714. The arrangement follows closely that of Laurent's catalogue, but the section of Protestant theology -- four years after the massacre of St. Bartholomew -- has been omitted, and the names of Luther and Calvin do not appear in the general theological section. The only copies so far known appear to be those at the Grolier Club and in the British Library which may be a re-issue, as Poysuel's name appears as Posuel on the title; it has a small supplement, dated 1681. Pollard & Ehrman's date "1671" should read 1676.
