Contemporary French mottled calf, spines gilt with red morocco spine labels (some light staining, joints splitting, volume III lacking spine label). Provenance: A.L. McLaughlin (bookplate).
PRICED in a contemporary hand, with a calligraphic announcement at the end of volume II indicating that the sale will take place in June or July unless a buyer is found to purchase the library in its entirety. Comprising 52,000 volumes, the library was sold in about 20,000 lots. Although the prices realized were low, Prevost realized the continuing usefulness of the catalogue and published an index to it twenty years after the sale.
