LAJARIETTE, J.L. de -- Catalogue des livres imprimés et manuscrits de la bibliothèque de M. J.L. D*****. Paris: Merlin, 9 June 1834.
8o (200 x 124 mm). Contemporary quarter roan and marbled boards (light wear to joints).
This collection included a considerable group of incunabula which, apart from the first products of fifteen printing places, contained perfect copies of Gutenberg's Catholicon and of Clement V, Constitutiones, Schöffer, 1467, on vellum, but remained unknown to De Ricci Mayence, and is not mentioned in Brunet's Manuel in the entries of these books. Only G. Brunet, unaware of the owner's identity and listing it under "D. (J.L.)" calls attention to the incunabula and rare books, including Hispanica, Americana, and Icelandica. In 1860 another anonymous sale took place, attributed to a De Lajariette who is identified as "ancien receveur des finances," the two may be identical.
