Montaran, scion of an ancient French noble family, became Napoléon's Master of the Horse and remained faithful to his Emperor to the end of the Hundred Days and beyond. His wife was a writer well-known in her time who survived him for many years (cf. Hoefer). The height of many of the Elzevirs are indicated in mm. Not in Blogie.
