Baudelocque's interest in provenances is documented in the price list including provenances where frequent names include those of Pixerécourt, la Bédoyère, Crozet, Duplessis, MacCarthy and Soleinne. The large part of about 220 incunables or, as he calls it, "gothiques," comes mainly from the exquisit collection of Charles Nodier. This sale marks a new phase in the development of French book collecting: the importance attached to provenance.
