He collected the great French classical writers, Corneille, Molière and Racine, Greek and Latin literature, and fine bindings, from the libraries of Grolier (lot 1,036), François I, Henri III, Richelieu, Mazarin, Hoym, Bossuet, Racine, Eugène of Savoy, and others. He also owned important early printed books, such as the 1460 Catholicon (lot 814), and vellum copies of the 1465 Mainz Cicero and the 1468 Mainz Justinian (lots 468 & 330). Blogie, II col. 80.
