Complete with its ten parts, index and separately printed general title. Each part (except the first) of this this important catalogue of the collection of bibles from duchess Elisabeth Sophie Marie of Braunschweig, widow to duke August-Wilhelm of Braunschweig-Lüneburg, is preceded by an index. Described in detail are 173 bibles, mostly from the 16th to the 18th century. The last two parts however are almost entirely devoted to manuscripts and incunable editions, including a copy of the 36 line bible (no. 123), later stolen by Napoleonic troups and now in the Bibliothèque nationale de France, and an imperfect copy of the Gutenberg bible (no. 122).
