Sale catalogue of the vast library, consisting of at least nine thousand titles, formed by Johann Winkler (1642-1705), "celebrated Lutheran clergyman of pietistic tendencies" (ADB). After holding various appointments at minor princely courts, he spent the remaining twenty-five years of his life first as pastor, then as head of the ministry, at Hamburg. The library was kept together by his widow, by whom he had nine sons and three daughters, until her death in 1719. Quellen, p. 115.
