Canngiesser was privy counselor to the King of Prussia, i.e. Frederick the Great; his library was unique on account of its second part: it contained c. 2,500 books and pamphlets on the history of Brandenburg and of Prussia and other regions under the Prussian crown; these are combined in 527 lots, but each title within each lot is numbered and given in full; some lots containing as many as thirty titles.
