A Victorian six-piece silver-gilt christening set,
comprising: a campana-shaped pedestal mug with moulded rim and foliate double scroll handle, the body chased and applied with classical figures, flowers and foliage and engraved with a monogram within a S-scroll cartouche with bird surmount, a similarly-decorated baluster bowl, a shaped circular plate with C and S-scroll border, and a knife, fork and spoon decorated with classical figures, masks, shells and foliage, each piece engraved with the same monogram, George Adams, London 1865, the mark on the plate overstriking another maker - height of mug 5in. (12.75cm.), weight excluding knife 25.25oz.
