UILENBROEK, Goswin -- Bibliotheca Uilenbroukiana, sive catalogus librorum quo collegit vir eximius D. Gosuinus Uilenbroek. Amsterdam: Wetstenius & Smith, 3 October 1729.
Three parts in one, 8o (195 x 125 mm). Title and preface in Latin and French. Contemporary vellum, red edges, spine lettered in manuscript. Provenance: Bibliothek der herzogl. Sternwart (19th-century bookplate); Göttingen?, Library of the Ducal Observatory (duplicate stamp).
Sale catalogue of the library of Uilenbroek, with its 5,000 lots, one of the most important private libraries of its time. According to G. Brunet, most of this it was withdrawn before the sale, although the present copy, which is priced throughout in a contemporary hand, does not support that claim, unless the original owner added the prices realized in 1741, when, following Uilenbroek's death, a further auction of the library was held. Blogie IV, col. 12; Peignot (under 'V'); Taylor, p.226.
