FOWLE, William Fiske (1833-1908) -- Catalogue of the Choice Collection belonging to William F. Fowle, Esq., of Boston, Mass. Cambridge: Riverside Press, 1865.
4o (260 x 190 mm). Title-page printed in red and black (neatly ruled throughout in red). Full crushed crimson levant morocco by Francis Bedford, spine divided by five raised bands into six panels, the second and third lettered in gilt, the others profusely gilt with small tools, t.e.g. (some light rubbing, a few small stains to spine and covers).
ONE OF 85 COPIES ON LARGE AND THICK WOVE PAPER. This catalogue, with a special title-page, is a commemorative issue of the 1864 sale catalogue of Fowle's library. In this copy, both the prices realized of the lots and Fowle's cost prices have been entered in a contemporary hand, amounting to $17,522.19 and $7,398.88 respectively. It is quite possible that this is Fowle's own copy of the catalogue, which he had bound by Bedford after he moved to London in 1870.
