An English brass lantern clock
Thomas Wheeler, London. Early 18th Century
Signed along the front fret Thomas Wheeler London, the dial plate now with cut out section to top, alarm setting disc to centre, vacant pivot hole to chapter ring and dial plate for alarm work now missing from the iron back plate, later hand, the side doors (possibly original) with cut-out slots and applied with later 'wings', the divided train with chain and spikes, verge escapement and countwheel strike on a possibly later bell above; ring weight, brass weight
