Lot Essay

Feuerbach worked in Germany, then Amiens and Paris where he worked with Thomas Couture. He was made a tutor at the Academy of Vienna in 1873, but only stayed there for 3 years as he had an overwhelming passion for travel. The last years of his life were spent in Venice, where his works almost imitated the style of the old Venetian masters. Without doubt his best works are given to portraiture. Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart museums are amongst those who exhibit his works.
