Lynch came to Paris to follow the courses of Jules Nöel, Henri Lehmann and Gabriel Ferrier at the Academy de Beaux-Arts. He showed at the Salon from 1890, painting his subjects less rigidly than the times often suggest, towards the studies of young women by Helleu and Lautrec
