CALLIGRAPHIC MANUSCRIPT in ink on Dutch paper (watermarked D&C Blauw). 14 leaves (title, tables), 520 numbered pages plus pages 325 bis and ter (catalogue), 86 numbered pages (supplement). Contemporary gold-tooled bottle-green morocco, triple fillet, flat spine with small floral tools in compartments and red morocco lettering piece, roll-tooled turn-ins, marbled endpapers, gilt edges, (joints and edges of binding worn). Provenance: J. Baur, Paris bookseller, May 1873 catalogue, no. 794 (inscription) -- Pierre Louÿs (1870-1925, author of Chansons de Bilitis), pencil notes on endpapers, including a reference to the 1555 Lyon edition of the works of Louise Labé -- Maurice Escoffier (bookplate, no. 157 in his mimeographed private-library catalogue of c. 1835) -- Major Adrian McLaughlin (Monaco sale, 7 October 1980, lot 1434).

Fine private-library manuscript catalogue of a large collection sold at auction by Nyon and Née de La Rochelle in April-May 1789 (for the sale catalogue, see North 340). The collector may have been the Le Vavasseur who was "Directeur-général de l'entreprise des fourrages militaires."
