The Builder's Dictionary: or Gentleman and Architect's Companion, London: 1734. 2 volumes, 8° (196 x 119mm). Engraved frontispiece and 34 plates, all but one folding, several full-page woodcut illustrations, initial approbation leaf in volume II with the names of Nicholas Hawksmoor, John James and James Gibbs (becoming loose), final errata leaf in volume II (some worming in both volumes, quite severe at the beginning of volume I and the end of volume II affecting text and plates, a few light spots and stains). Contemporary calf, double gilt filet round sides (a little rubbed, short splits in hinges). Provenance: John Davies (later 18th-century signature at the head of the preface).
