Taylor, [?1772]. 36 engraved plates (occasional light browning or marking). Oblong 4° (211 x 263mm). Modern mottled calf, gilt borders, gilt leather lettering-piece on upper board. Provenance: occasional pencilled notes or sketches in both works.
FIRST EDITIONS. 'N. Wallis, Archtiect' is know only from the three works of his published by Taylor in the early 1770s. While it is likely that he was a hack artist employed by Taylor, it 'may be a pseudonym, perhaps even for Taylor himself who was certainly capable of producing original designs, or of synthesising those of others' (RIBA 3573).
