The sides of the semi-translucent bowl carved on the exterior as eight lotus petals, each enclosing the figure of the seated Buddha, raised on a spreading foot carved with a band of smaller petals, the interior of the bowl plain, the domed cover carved with further petals enclosing the bajixiang below the umbrella-form knop, the green jade stand carved as a lotus pod atop waisted lotus petal sides

A white jade bowl and cover of this form carved with similar decoration, but with a lotus pod rather than umbrella-form knop, in the Palace Museum Collection, Beijing, is illustrated in Zhongguo yuqi quanji, vol. 6, Hong Kong, 1994, no. 380, p. 248.
