A PAIR OF CLOISONNE AND CHAMPLEVE ENAMEL QILIN INCENSE BURNERS
QIANLONG/JIAQING PERIOD (1736-1820)
Each hollow cast in mirror image as a seated, horned mythical beast with head turned to the side, their grinning mouths with openings either side of the fangs for the emission of smoke, with finely scaled blue and turquoise body, the curled mane and curls and tufts of hair bordering the backbone in blue and yellow-green champlevé enamel, while the ears are in mauve tipped in white, with a small circular aperture in the flat base
