Of rectangular form, the cloisonné-mounted frame decorated with lotus scroll, which is repeated on the turrets rising from each corner and the bell-shaped finial surmounting the domed roof formed by gilt-metal bars, two sides applied with a plaque formed as confronted phoenixes, and one end with a pair of arched doors outlined in cloisonné and applied with gilt-metal flowerheads, the bars on the sides set between cash borders

In form this rare bird cage is similar to an Imperial cloisonné enamel dog kennel on wheels that is from the Qianlong period and now in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, illustrated by H.
