Two Longquan celadon relief-decorated double-gourd bottles of this type are illustrated by R. Krahl, Chinese Ceramics in the Topkapi Saray Museum, Istanbul, London, 1986, vol. I, nos. 202 and 203, p. 222 (col. pl.), and pp. 287-8. Another example of very similar shape and of only slightly smaller size (13 1/8 in. high) in the Hatakeyama Memorial Museum, Tokyo, is illustrated by Seizo Hayashiya and H. Trubner et al., Chinese Ceramics from Japanese Collections, Asia Society, New York, p. 66, no. 26. In the catalogue entry for this bottle, the decoration of applied peony scroll is described as uki botan (floating peony).
