TWO MOLDED WHITE-GLAZED VASES
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
One of compressed baluster form molded with a central band of stylized chilong amidst squared scrolls, between further bands of scroll design around the foot and neck, with scrolled flanges on either side of the neck and waist, the base with effaced Qianlong incised seal mark; the other vase of baluster form with a central band of bats suspending chimes above a border of waves around the foot and below a band of ruyi heads encircling the shoulder and a further band around the mouth rim

Lot Essay

A virtually identical white-glazed Qianlong-marked molded compressed baluster vase was included in the exhibition, Monochrome Ceramics of the Ming and Ch'ing Dynasties, Hong Kong Museum of Art, 1977, no. 141.
