A Bizen School Katana with Koshirae
Muromachi period (late 16th century), signed Bizen kuni Osafune ju Nagamitsu
Honzukuri, iori-mune, ko-kissaki with slight koshizori curvature and carved on both sides with bohi; forging pattern ko-itame and the tempered edge gentle notare of nioi with sunagashi; midare komi boshi; tang unshortened, machiokuri with five holes (two plugged) and indistinct file marks
69.5cm. from tip to beginning of tang; 2.5cm. wide and start of tempered edge; 1.5cm. wide before tip
In shirasaya (plain wood scabbard)
With koshirae comprising a black-lacquer saya mounted with copper fuchi-kashira carved with scrolling vines, a pair of copper menuki formed as dragons and an iron mokko tsuba carved with quails and bush clover with gilt details, 19th century; 96.5cm. long (2)
