Edo period (17th century), signed Bitchu no kami Tachibana Yasuhiro and with chrysanthemum crest
Honzukuri, iori-mune, chu-kissaki, toriizori; forging pattern itame and masame; tempered edge ko-midare of nie and sunagashi and ko-maru boshi; tang ubu with kesho-yasuri marks and two holes and a silver habaki
68.5cm. from tip to beginning of tang; 3.2cm. wide at start of tempered edge; 2.1cm. wide before tip
Koshirae comprising a brown-lacquer saya mounted with iron fuchi-kashira decorated in brass and silver takazogan butterflies; iron sukashi tsuba pierced with a design of butterflies and plants; iron menuki formed as chrysanthemums; hilt wrapped in pale orange thread; 99.8cm. long
