Edo period (19th century), inscribed on the barrel and the stock Menkyo ju Gifu ken
The iron barrel inlaid into a wood stock with a fine burl, the barrel bands silver and decorated on the sides of the stock with a silver plate carved with a tiger and a dragon, the lockplate, breech and trigger mechanism patinated shibuichi and carved with crashing waves in the manner of Omori-school sword fittings
