Meiji period (19th century), signed Kawa Hidekuni [Kawarabayashi Hidekuni (1825-1891)]
Slight mokko shape and patinated with a shibuichi ground decorated on the front with waterweeds and a carp leaping to catch a butterfly, the reverse with water plants, floating leaves and stumps all in shakudo and gold takazogan, the ripples in the water carved in sunken relief
