A Four-Case Lacquer Inro
Edo period (19th century)
Decorated in Somada style with a continous design of the twelve animals of the Zodiac in shaped panels in aogai, gold hiramaki-e and colored togidashi, the background waves, lozenge or floral patterns of green shell or gold lacquer, interiors nashiji and the rims of the cases silver; fitted en suite with a lacquer bead ojime with shell inlays and with a manju netsuke with waves in gold lacquer
