Born in Tver, Valentin Bogdanov graduated from the State of Art Institute of Ode. During the war was elected a member of the Supreme Art Council in the Ukraine. He worked at the Moscow Art Institute in 1952, followed by becoming head of the department at the Stroganov Art Institute during the years 1954 to 1985.
