Born in Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Gusev graduated from the Moscow Art Institute, and was a member of the Union of Artists of Russia. Works are held in the State Tretyakov Gallery, Museum of History, Art Gallery of Shakovskaya, Art Museum of Voskresens, Bashkiria.
