FIRST EDITION, SIGNED "Willa Sibert Cather June 16 1906" on front free-endpaper. A collection of seven stories, The Troll Garden resulted from Cather's meeting with H.H. McClure in 1903, which would change her life. He agreed to publish her stories in book form and in his magazine, and three years later he hired Willa to be an editor at McClure's where she would remain for the next six years.
