Bound in one volume, 4o. Several plays with half-titles, bound interleaved with some notations and opera-related materials. 19th-century half-sheep, marbled boards, top edge gilt (upper cover detached, spine perishing). Provenance: James Maidment (bookplate).
A very unique collection, presumably bound by Maidment and with his hand-written table of contents and a few notations in text. Maidment (1795?-1879), a Scottish solicitor and antiquary, published numerous works in his lifetime, including one of his most valuable works entitled Dramatists of the Restoration. Maidment was also an extensive collector; upon his death, the auction of his library by T. Chapman and Son lasted for fifteen days. DNB, p. 782-83.
